Fffap Scientific Advisory Group Member

England, United Kingdom

Job Description

The is a national clinical audit programme run by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) and commissioned by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership on behalf of NHS England and the Welsh Government. Our work aims to improve the care that patients with fragility fractures receive in hospital and after discharge and to reduce inpatient falls. At present, 300,000 fragility fractures occur each year in the UK including 70,000 hip fractures. Over 2,000 of these are experienced by hospital inpatients.
The audit programme currently has a Scientific review group, who review applications for research studies to use audit data. However , an opportunity has been identified to explore new ways of using the data and encouraging new applications for the use of data. The audit data has the potential to drive further research around osteoporosis and fragility fractures, not to mention supporting service and healthcare quality improvement. The Scientific advisory group has been created to make best use of FFFAP data to improve health outcomes, through condition specific and population level studies. This large volume of data is currently underutilised, which is why the scientific advisory group is being created to promote the data use to improve health outcomes, through condition specific and population level studies.
