Fgpa Engineering Manager

Stevenage, Hertfordshire, United Kingdom

Job Description

If you're the kind of leader who genuinely enjoys coaching and developing people while still keeping a hand in the technical detail, this is a great opportunity to step into a team that's growing fast and doing some really interesting work.
You'd be leading a high-performing FPGA engineering group, shaping future capability, and working in a culture that values balance, flexibility and progression as much as it values innovation.
Benefits:

  • Company bonus up to 21 percent of base salary
  • Pension with total contributions up to 14 percent
  • Hybrid working with options for compressed hours
  • Enhanced parental leave including maternity, adoption, shared parental, paternity, neonatal and fertility support
  • Excellent onsite facilities with subsidised meals and free parking
  • A supportive environment with real long-term development opportunities
About the Role
You'll be leading a talented team of FPGA and digital design engineers, helping them deliver complex, high-performance solutions across a range of cutting-edge programmes. It's a mix of technical leadership, people development and shaping long-term capability.
You'll guide architecture, design and implementation of FPGA solutions, ensure good engineering practice, support cross-functional collaboration with software and systems teams, and help the group scale as demand grows. The work spans RTL design, simulation, timing closure, toolchain strategy and design verification with genuine influence on future technology decisions.
What You'll Need
  • Strong FPGA or digital hardware design background (around 10+ years)
  • Leadership or management experience, ideally 3-5 years
  • Proven record delivering complex FPGA systems into production
  • Deep understanding of RTL, timing analysis, simulation and verification
  • Experience with high-speed interfaces, DSP, control logic or image processing
  • Comfortable owning delivery plans, risks and schedules
  • Strong communication skills and a positive, coaching leadership style
Bonus if you've worked with MBSE, hardware security, DO-254, automation/scripting or embedded system integration.
What You'll Get
A chance to shape the future of an expanding electronic engineering function, take ownership of capability and strategy, and lead a talented group who genuinely want to learn and push forward together. There's huge scope for impact and long-term progression, with support to grow in whichever direction you choose.
Security clearance requirements apply.
