The City of Doncaster Council is a confident, ambitious organisation which puts improving the life of its residents at the centre of everything we do. You have a opportunity to be part of this in the role of FH Pathway Lead- Early Years.

As a pivotal part of Team Doncaster, the council has been on a significant journey of improvement and transformation to become an employer of choice. In a challenging financial climate, we are transforming children and young people's services and have ambitious plans to be the most child friendly borough in the country. Anyone wishing to join us on our journey can look forward to being part of a confident, ambitious organisation at an exciting time for the borough.

The Family Hub & Start for Life programme was a manifesto commitment from the 2019 election and, in early 2022 Doncaster was identified as one of the 75 Local Authorities who met the criteria to participate. The programme is described as an "opportunity to change the lives of thousands of parents, carers and babies across England" and challenges "national and local government, the health sector and Start for Life professionals [to] use this programme to deliver better services for families, develop our understanding of 'what works' and build the evidence base for future investment decisions".

As an instrumental element of the Start for life programme, as a Pathway Lead you will hold an integral role within Family Hubs to provide highly effective support to the partnership, ensuring delivery of high quality, effective targeted early years support to children and their families.

There are 12 Family Hubs across Doncaster with a partnership approach to providing support and activities for over 40,000 individuals a year. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team whose work has been nationally recognised as best practice with case studies published by the Local Government Association.

As a Pathway Lead with a focus on Early Years you will be passionate about Early Years practice and giving children the best start in life. You will have the skills to undertake holistic assessments of family needs and be able to identify appropriate support to scaffold and extend children's learning. You will be overseeing teams who deliver interventions within the home or Family Hubs to support learning, development and school readiness. This role forms part of the Home Learning Environment strand of the Start for Life programme and will require you to support the delivery of a place-based approach to promote the benefits of, and coach parents in, chatting, playing and reading with their child.

In return for your hard work and dedication, we can offer you the chance to be part of a great team dedicated to ensuring that all people in Doncaster thrive. You will also have access to a variety of attractive employee benefits including competitive leave entitlement, a generous local government pension scheme, a wide range of well-being support and development opportunities. You will also have access to a range of staff discount and benefits schemes. More information on the benefits available to you as a City of Doncaster Council employee can be found in the attached benefits book.

Please ensure you view the job summary and job profile as you will need to demonstrate in your application form how you meet the required criteria.
