Our technology teams in the UK work closely with HSBC\'s global businesses to help design and build digital services that allow our millions of customers around the world, to bank quickly, simply and securely. We also run and manage our IT infrastructure, data centres and core banking systems that power the world\'s leading international bank. Our multi-disciplined teams include DevOps Engineers, IT Architects, Front and Back-End Developers, Infrastructure specialists, Cyber experts, as well as Project and Programme Managers.

Following extensive investment across our Technology and Digital domains and with plans for continued expansion throughout 2023 and beyond, we are currently seeking experienced individuals to join HSBC Technology.

HSBC has built a successful FX and Commodities Derivatives Business over a number of years. Building upon HSBC\'s strengths (global presence, customer and emerging markets focus) the business has grown to become a major player in the global derivatives market.

Role Description

The primary aim of the FX and Commodities IT team is to develop and support the IT systems that allow the business to be successful. Calculations and compute function sits across all product lines of the GFX & GDM (Global Debt Markets), supporting a number of products (FX Cash, FX Options, Commodities, Global Debt Markets) and initiatives.

The Global Compute Technical Lead will be:-

  • The Technical Lead of the FICC Compute Function
  • Responsible for Technical Architecture, Optimisation, Maintenance and Expansion of existing FICC Compute platform and rolling out to other business lines including GDM
Responsibilities
  • Technical Architecture for FICC Compute Platform
  • Technical Leadership & Growth for GFX Compute Team globally
  • Calculation, Grid Computing, Risk Store and Cloud Strategy - ensuring risk is persisted correctly
  • Full ownership of technical & functional requirements in conjunction with the execution lead
  • Engagement and alignment with business & technical stakeholders
  • Ownership of Compute software development lifecycle
  • Automation of tooling with regards to testing and deployment
  • Ownership of Support model for FICC Compute Function. The team adheres to a DevOps model and all is expected to support the production availability of their service
Qualifications

Essential Skillset/Experience
  • Proactive self-starter able to take initiative and get things done with top-notch problem solving skills
  • Experience of building and operating successful high performance distributed systems
  • Core Java development knowledge - data structures, concurrency, multithreading and modern JVMs
  • JVM monitoring, profiling, tuning, and debugging
  • Knowledge of risk systems, risk stores and ability to persist risk
  • Ability to apply test driven development (TDD)
  • Familiar with SQL/relational databases as well as NOSQL technologies
  • Proficient and effective in both Linux and Windows
  • Capable of working in a DevOps/ agile environment and culture, ownership of development and production
  • Ability to work as part of a large global and communicate effectively with Front office stakeholders, Quants and consumers (when necessary)
  • Understanding of FX Cash, Options & Global Debt Market Front Office business, including pricing and risk management
Desirable Skillset/Experience
  • Redis experience
  • Google Cloud Platform (or any other cloud technology) experience
  • Docker/other virtual containers technologies experience
  • C++ programming experience
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting (VAR, FRTB)

The role will be based in London, but some travel may be required. This role supports Hybrid working
