Job Summary

We're hiring Field Engineers across Scotland to support telecoms and networking operations for key clients. This is a contract field-based role involving installation, maintenance, and first-line support across multiple sites within your local region (up to a 2-hour travel radius). Key Responsibilities

Perform installation, commissioning, maintenance, and fault-finding on telecoms and data network systems.

Support technologies including PDH, SDH, Commtel, Xtran, MPLS, Radio, and Microwave.

Provide 24/7/365 first-line support as part of a regional on-call rotation.

Complete project documentation, test results, and quality assurance records.

Communicate effectively with Project Managers, Service Desk, and clients.

Deliver work safely, efficiently, and within SLAs.

Travel within a local 2-hour radius; travel/accommodation covered for remote sites (e.g., Isle of Skye).

Requirements

Proven Field Engineer / Network Engineer experience (telecoms, utilities, or IT networking).

Strong knowledge of Cisco and Alcatel products

Strong understanding of LAN/WAN, routing, switching, microwave radio, and transmission systems.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Confident communicator with strong documentation ability.

Competent in Microsoft Teams and Office 365.

Full UK Driving Licence (essential).

Desirable Certifications (Good to Have)

CCNA or equivalent networking qualification.

Scottish Power / National Grid Authorisations (training can be provided).

EUSR, NRSWA, IOSH, or First Aid at Work certified.

DC/AC competency and experience with high-voltage environments (11kV-400kV).
