Mantech is seeking a skilled and self-motivated Field Service Engineer to join our dedicated service department. You will be responsible for providing high-quality, on-site technical support for our extensive range of sheet metal machinery at customer locations across the UK.
The core purpose of this role is to carry out installations, commissioning, scheduled servicing, and breakdown repairs on equipment such as Press Brakes and Guillotines. This position is crucial for ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and maintaining the operational efficiency and safety of our customers' machinery. Please note, this role requires extensive travel and regular nights staying away from home.
Key Responsibilities:
Travel to customer sites throughout the United Kingdom to provide technical support.
Perform the installation and commissioning of new machinery, ensuring it is fully operational.
Carry out planned preventative maintenance and servicing to minimise machine downtime.
Effectively diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults on-site.
Provide technical assistance and basic operator guidance to customers.
Complete and submit detailed service reports and other job-related documentation in a timely manner.
Maintain and manage van stock to ensure essential parts are available for repairs.
Uphold a professional and positive relationship with all customers.
Adhere strictly to company and legislative health and safety procedures at all times.
Essential Skills & Experience:
A full, clean UK driving licence.
A qualification or relevant experience in Mechanical, Electrical, or Maintenance Engineering.
Proven experience in a field-based service role.
Demonstrable experience in servicing, repairing, and installing sheet metal machinery, specifically Press Brakes and Guillotines.
A strong background in fault-finding on hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills for customer-facing interactions.
The ability to work independently and manage your own workload effectively.
A highly self-motivated, proactive, and logical approach to your work.

A flexible attitude towards working hours.
Must have the legal right to work in the UK.
Desirable Attributes:
Experience with a wider range of CNC sheet metal equipment.
Experience with specific CNC control systems (e.g., Delem).
Experience in training machine operators.
A formal qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Maintenance Engineering (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds).
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics.
The ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure.
