Contract - Permanent

Full Time - 39 Hours

Coolair Bus & Rail Ltd T/as Coolair Logan predominantly specialise in the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of bespoke integrated HVAC systems for the Automotive and Railway industry. This job role is based at our assembly and service facility in South Hykeham.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual with great attention to detail. This job role offers a wide variety of work with servicing, repairs and installations running adjacent to one another.

We want to employ a team player who will actively assist with improvements throughout the business and have a positive attitude towards the development of our products and processes.

Key Roles & Responsibilities



Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be part of the Field Service operation. Your main work scope shall be the service, repair and installation of railway HVAC's and automotive air conditioning systems. Assisting with various mechanical/electrical tasks outside of your regular work scope, at times when service/repair work may not be as frequent. This could be project-based works or day to day production support. Regular workshop housekeeping to ensure a clean and safe work environment for yourself and your colleagues. Maintaining your company van (at the company's expense), you shall be responsible for checking the condition of the vehicle before/after use and keeping the vehicle clean and tidy. You will organise any service/repair works required. Mentoring apprentices, transferring skills and knowledge to develop their careers. Communicating with customers via email and telephone (company mobile and laptop provided). Keeping up to date with the schedule of works, liaising with Sales, Projects and Directors. Mechanical and electrical testing. Diagnosing and repairing faulty components in the workshop and on site. Pressure testing components and assemblies. Nationwide coverage for installations, servicing and repairs.
Due to the nature of this role, it shall include working outside throughout the year at various rail maintenance depots or sidings.

Knowledge, Skills, Equipment & Experience



Modern apprentice qualified in a mechanical or electrical engineering discipline. (Must be NVQ Level 3 or City & Guilds equivalent) Excellent attention to detail. Basic knowledge of AC and DC circuits. Previous experience with refrigerants and air conditioning systems (City & Guilds 2079-11 F-Gas (Category 1) is preferred). Must have your own tools to cover basic mechanical and electrical tasks. As with all independant work you must be professional, enthusiastic, self-motivated, proactive and organised. You will be working as part of a team or independently. When on customer sites, technical support shall be provided from the depot as necessary. Able to adapt quickly both in the workshop and in the field, with a desire to problem solve. Basic understanding of engineering drawings and electrical schematics is necessary. Competent with IT, including the use of Microsoft Office software. Competent with basic electrical testing (current, voltage, frequency, insulation resistance etc.). 5 years previous experience in a field based or similar role is necessary.

Salary



Salary ranges between 16.50 - 18.50 per hour.

Minimum Working Hours



Monday to Thursday 07:30 - 16:30 Friday 07:30 - 12:30 (early finish is subject to workload, given the reactiveness of a Field Service role we require flexiblity to work on Friday afternoons).
Note that overtime will be required occasionally based on customer demands and workload. This overtime may be before or after the working hours stated above. You must be flexible with on site requirements and travelling, some field service tasks may require you to stay in accommodation throughout the country for up to 3 days at a time.
