This role combines hands-on technical expertise with meaningful patient care, initially offering comprehensive training on wheelchairs, powerchairs, bathing aids, hoist systems and community equipment predominantly in the Herefordshire area.
With a starting salary up to
25,438
(for candidates aged 21+), structured progression framework leading to premium (out of hours) on-call rates, company pension with 5% employer matching, and professional manufacturer certifications, permanent full-time position initially (Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm).
After training, you'll also contribute to our vital out-of-hours emergency cover rotational basis (frequency to be agreed), including evenings and weekends, with additional payment, company vehicle use to and from work, and premium hourly rates for overtime.

Our comprehensive product range includes wheelchairs, powerchairs, stairlifts, bathing aids, specialist toilets, vertical lifts, overhead hoist systems, step lifts, and much more.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
Technical Operations (once trained)
Conduct repairs and modifications to manual wheelchairs
Undertake fault-finding and programming of electric/electronic components and electromechanical systems
Provide technical advice on safe equipment use to patients and carers
Test electrical wheelchairs, chargers and accessories per manufacturer instructions
Use a wide range of tools/electrical and mechanical equipment for repairs and maintenance
Conduct LOLER inspections on mobile & fixed hoist systems (training will be given)
Progress to installation and maintenance of complex assistive technology equipment
Patient Care & Field Work
Deliver, repair, service and maintain manual and power wheelchairs & community equipment at service users' homes and locations (schools, care homes, hospitals)
Handle emergency repairs during working hours
Handover wheelchairs & community equipment to patients with safety information and usage guidance
Maintain professional customer service attitude when dealing with patients and families
Progression to on-call emergency response services out of hours on a rota basis
Information Management
Complete asset disposal forms listing reasons for disposal
Identify appropriate wheelchairs from stock and set up according to clinician specifications
Liaise with Stores Coordinator to order required parts in a timely manner
About You
Essential Requirements:
Must be aged 21 or over
to qualify for full starting salary
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and equipment
Confident user of bench and/or hand tools
Demonstrable background in electrical & or mechanical engineering
Basic IT skills including Microsoft Office Suite
Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and patients
Good written and verbal communication skills
Physical fitness to kneel, bend, stoop and work in cramped environments
Ability to manually handle loads up to 20kg safely
Full, clean UK driving licence (Category B1 for light goods vans required)
Enhanced DBS disclosure required
Desirable but not essential:
NHS setting experience
Direct wheelchair/medical device maintenance experience
Experience with community equipment
Electrical Safety Testing experience
Professional manufacturer training
Licence Category C1 (3.5 tonnes preferred)
Experience with lifting equipment and safety regulations
