Job Description


We are looking for an enthusiastic, conscientious individual for the role of Specialist Team Member (STM) in the Draycott Field Team within East Midlands. You will be responsible for organising a large team delivering routine maintenance and construction on our rivers and flood defence assets. You will ensure all work is carried out efficiently and in line with Health and Safety procedures, CDM Regulations, as well as Environment Agency policy. You will produce risk assessments, method statements and other Health and Safety documentation for the team to follow on site. You will also lead on all aspects of our AIMS OM asset management system on behalf of the whole team. As an STM you will be expected to lead on Procurement on behalf of the Draycott Field Team, managing our orders, finances, and relationships with contractors. You must be a positive role model for the team, taking the lead to actively coach others to build a stronger field team. During times of leave or sickness you will be expected to stand in as the Field Team Leader; where you will be involved in the management of the Field Operations Team.

The team

The Draycott Field Operations Team is based at Draycott Depot, Nooning Lane,Draycott, Derby DE72 3NZ. The Field Operations Team is responsible for delivering a programme of maintenance and repairs to Rivers and Flood Defence assets. Whilst being prepared to react to incidents across the East Midlands and provide mutual aid in other Areas. We also provide support and advice to other parts of the business for example Fisheries, Hydrometry and Environment Management.

Experience/skills required

We are seeking someone with field team experience who has excellent leadership and communication skills. You will have the proven ability and demonstrate the following: \xe2\x80\xa2Lead on site, ensuring staff work safely and setting the routine for the day. \xe2\x80\xa2Lead teams responding to flood and environmental incidents. \xe2\x80\xa2Provide coaching and encouragement on site. \xe2\x80\xa2Communicate at a variety of levels, both internally & externally \xe2\x80\xa2Excellent customer service skills both written and verbal. \xe2\x80\xa2Self-motivation, with the ability to work well in a team as well as independently and deliver conflicting/demanding work, within short deadlines; \xe2\x80\xa2Working knowledge and experience of flood risk management policy, strategy, health, and safety (CDM) and environmental legislation \xe2\x80\xa2Have good IT skills (e.g, Word/Excel) and have a good understanding of working with iPads. In addition, the following personal skills are a key requirement for this role: taking initiative, good time management, flexibility, problem solving and decision making.

Data and Information Management

Description

The STM needs to produce accurate and appropriate paperwork and documentation (including site packs) to enable work to be carried out on site. Please tell us what experience you have of producing documentation, including Construction Phase Plans, to enable work to be carried out safely on site. - Have you had any experience of managing contractors and, if so, please tell us about it? - Do you have detailed knowledge of any electronic management systems (i.e. AIMS OM/CAMC) and how competent are you with using these systems?

Full UK driving Licence
