About the role





As Field Technical Team Leader you'll lead a team of engineers maintaining and servicing Heat Interface Units (HIUs), metering systems, and wider heat network equipment across residential and commercial sites. You'll also play a key part in developing our apprentices and junior engineers, ensuring they have the skills, confidence, and support to grow.

What you'll be doing




Leading on HIU servicing, fault diagnosis, maintenance, and replacements. Carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance on HIUs, meters, valves, FCUs, MVHRs, and associated systems. Supporting plant room and network-level works -- pipework, strainers, valves, and controls. Supervising and mentoring engineers, apprentices, and subcontractors, ensuring high standards of workmanship. Installing, commissioning, and maintaining PAYG and metering systems. Conducting site surveys, reporting defects, and recommending improvements. Supporting compliance by promoting safe working practices and assisting with audits. Helping to onboard new engineers -- from tooling and stock to training and integration. Managing team morale, development, and technical upskilling.



Location and working hours:




5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 5 hours per day between 08:00 to 20:00 Primarily field based across Greater London Office location: Moorgate, London (WeWork)



Required skills and attributes:




NVQ Level 2 (or higher) in Plumbing & Heating. Experience leading, mentoring, or coaching field-based engineers. Strong technical background in HIUs, heating, and/or metering systems. Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with clients, contractors, and residents. Full UK driving licence (minimal or no penalty points). A proactive, safety-first approach with attention to quality and detail.



Desirable qualifications:




18th Edition Domestic Wiring SMSTS / H&S qualification First Aid trained CSCS card
