Overview


We are seeking a highly organised and trustworthy

Finance & Accounts Officer

to oversee all financial activities for our growing e-commerce business.

This role will be responsible for managing budgets, controlling spending, approving payments, handling tax and compliance requirements, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

You will act as the financial backbone of the business -- ensuring that every financial process is well-managed, efficient, and compliant, while supporting strategic decisions that drive growth.

Financial Management & Budget Control



Take full ownership of the company's

financial operations and planning

. Develop and monitor

budgets

to ensure responsible spending and optimal allocation of resources. Regularly review financial performance against budgets and provide

variance analysis

with recommendations. Ensure the company operates within approved spending limits and identify opportunities to

reduce costs or improve efficiency

. Maintain and monitor

cash flow

to ensure the business meets operational needs. Prepare

financial forecasts and reports

for the Director and management team.

Payments & Record Keeping



Approve and process

supplier invoices, purchase orders, and outgoing payments

in a timely and accurate manner. Manage

accounts payable and receivable

, ensuring reconciliations are kept up to date. Track

e-commerce transactions, fees, and platform deductions

(e.g. Shopify, Amazon, eBay). Produce

monthly management accounts

and assist with end-of-year financial statements.

Taxation & Compliance



Ensure all

VAT, PAYE, and corporation tax

submissions are accurate and filed on time (in coordination with external accountants). Maintain full compliance with

HMRC

regulations and e-commerce tax requirements. Keep accurate and audit-ready records of all financial transactions. Liaise with accountants and auditors to support year-end and compliance reviews.

Cross-Department & Strategic Support



Work closely with operations, procurement, and compliance teams to align financial priorities. Provide financial insights and reporting to support

decision-making, purchasing, and inventory planning

. Advise management on cost control, profit margins, and business sustainability.

Qualifications & Skills



Strong experience and history in finance related work. 3+ years' experience in

finance, accounts, or bookkeeping

, ideally within e-commerce or retail. Strong knowledge of

UK accounting standards and tax regulations

. Experience managing

budgets and financial planning

. Proficient in

accounting software

(Xero) Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organisational, analytical, and communication skills. Integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial information.
