Finance Administrator - Fixed 9 month term (Aug 2025 - April 2026)
About the Role
Acorn Early Years is a charitable organisation providing childcare and early education, operating day nurseries, forest schools, out-of-school clubs, and specialist early years catering and training services. We are an agile organisation that is growing rapidly, despite the challenges facing the sector, with 17 nurseries and over 450 employees with an expected turnover of approximately 13m this year. We are seeking a Finance Administrator for a fixed 9-month term starting August 2025 to cover maternity leave.
In this role you will be an integrated member of the finance team, assisting with the financial and accounting transactions, month end and general administrative tasks. You will also work closely with the nursery managers and administrators regarding invoicing queries.
The role is based in our Central Support Office in Castlethorpe, Monday to Friday. We are looking for an individual who would work 20 - 35 hours a week. Annual salary of 23,660 - 27,300 based on 35 hours per week.
Role and Responsibilities
Bank:
Allocating revenue payments daily to parents' accounts.
Completing daily and weekly bank reconciliations.
Completing other banking administrative tasks.
Revenue:
Generating monthly invoices for catering, training and forest schools.
Monthly reconciliation of Checkfront to SAGE.
Monitoring outstanding fees.
Processing Childcare Grant Scheme claims on a weekly basis.
Monitoring staff discount and completing internal audits on this.
Completing internal audits on sales invoices.
Month End:
Allocating the credit card payments to SAGE.
Completing internal audits on credit card use.
Completing internal charging relating to training, catering and forest schools.
Completing month end reports.
Other:
Assisting with annual external audit.
Liaising with the Central Support Team, Nursery Managers and Nursery Administrators as required.
Completing general finance duties as required.
Person Specification

Previous finance experience
Proficient use of finance software
Excellent IT skills (specifically Microsoft Excel)
