Role purpose
The Finance Analyst will support both the Operations and Commercial teams by delivering high-quality financial analysis, reporting, and insights that drive better business decision-making. This role plays an important part in enabling growth, improving efficiency, and ensuring strong financial management across the business. We're looking for a proactive individual who thrives on challenges, has a strong desire to understand how the business operates, and is motivated to build a successful career within SLG's Finance team.
After an initial on-site period, hybrid working is available and benefits include 33 days holiday entitlement (increasing with length of service), a 2pm finish each Friday, private medical insurance and life assurance among others!
Key accountabilities
Operational Finance Support
Work closely with the Operations Finance Business Partners to understand cost drivers and support cost control initiatives.
Monitor and analyse key operational KPIs (e.g. labour productivity, throughput, cost per unit, scrap rates) and perform variance analysis.
Support the evaluation of operational efficiency projects and track benefits realisation.
Assist during the Operations month-end close process and prepare select Balance Sheet reconciliations.
Commercial Finance Support
Support the Commercial Finance Business Partner deliver financial insight and business partnering activity across revenue-generating activities.
Perform analysis of customer and sector sales, revenue, and profit margins comparing actuals to budget/forecast figures.
Track commercial KPIs and provide monthly variance analysis with commentary.
Assist in the preparation of robust revenue forecasts and commercial models.
Assist during the Commercial Finance month-end close process and prepare select Balance Sheet reconciliations.
Reporting & Analytics
Provide support to the Finance team during forecasting cycles and the preparation of the 5 Year Plan.
Support the preparation of the monthly and quarterly reporting packs reviewed by the Exec and Board.
Build a strong working knowledge of systems and processes, continuously improving data accuracy and consistency of reporting.
Support the Finance Business Partners deliver efficiency and effectiveness opportunities through enhancements to business systems and processes.
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Required:
Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ICAS, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
2+ years of experience in a finance role, ideally within a commercial, FP&A, or operational finance function.
Advanced in the use of Excel with strong financial modelling and analytical skills.
Demonstrates brilliant execution, delivering work on time, is thorough and applies a high standard in everything they do.
Confident, self-motivated and resilient, able to proactively identify issues and drive delivery of solutions. Thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Actively develops and maintains beneficial relationships and shows commitment to outstanding teamwork.
Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
Desirable:
Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI).
Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics would be beneficial, however, not essential as full training will be provided.
