Job Purpose:
The Finance and Bookkeeping Manager is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the business, maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and supporting strategic financial planning. This role combines hands-on bookkeeping with broader financial management responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day bookkeeping including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and journals.
Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes.
Prepare accurate management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and financial reports for senior management.
Lead budget preparation and support department heads with financial planning.
Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations, including VAT, PAYE, and Corporation Tax.
Liaise with stakeholders and partners
Maintain and improve internal financial controls and procedures.
Manage payroll processing and pension submissions (if applicable).
Reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information.
Monitor and manage company cash flow, identifying risks and opportunities.
Support finance-related systems and software implementation and improvement.
Person Specification:Qualifications:
Relevant degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field (preferred)
Experience:
Proven experience in a similar finance or bookkeeping management role
Strong understanding of financial legislation and compliance requirements
Experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
Payroll processing and HMRC compliance experience desirable
Experience in [insert relevant industry if necessary] is an advantage
