Salary from 43,277 to 51,714 pa inclusive with potential to progress to 55,497 pa inclusive of London allowance
LSE's Extended Education Unit is a highly successful and commercially focused division which delivers a range of world-class programmes, including the Summer School and Transnational Education (TNE) via our Global Programmes to diverse global audiences, bringing combined revenues of 45m to the School.
Extended Education is currently undertaking a period of strategic transformation, expanding and innovating its programme portfolio to meet the evolving needs of learners and partners. As part of this exciting phase of development, the Unit is seeking to appoint an experienced and proactive Finance and Operations Manager.
This pivotal role offers the postholder the opportunity to shape and support the financial sustainability of a growing and dynamic part of the School. Working closely with senior colleagues across the Unit and wider LSE, the Finance and Operations Manager will lead both day-to-day finance operations and longer-term financial planning activities, contributing directly to the development of new programmes and business models.
The postholder will be responsible for:

  • Monitoring internal budgets, tracking expenditure, and providing robust financial guidance to colleagues across the Unit throughout the financial year;
  • Supporting the development of detailed financial models and business cases that underpin the Unit's transformation agenda and the introduction of new initiatives
  • Managing the transfer of funds and preparing surplus calculation data for academic departments involved in programme delivery.
The ideal candidate will have skills and experience including:
Experience in financial administration and planning, including invoice and expenses processing and budget management.
  • Advanced data analysis skills and the ability to translate complex data into meaningful narratives for non-specialist audiences
  • Detailed understanding of planning or forecasting processes
Experience in line management and developing others, especially those working in a complex environment is also desirable.
