The Recipe
To ensure Centre Banking, Expenses and other Accounting processes are completed accurately, in line with accounting procedures and in a timely manner.
Key Accountabilities and Measures

  • To ensure banking transactions payments are made accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Preparation of weekly and period end journals and performing routine tasks during the financial period
  • Reconciliation of the Period End Balance Sheet Accounts and leading investigation of differences.
  • Completion of Office for National Statistics and other regulatory returns. Provision of information to government and regulatory bodies when requested.
  • Preparation of the VAT return and maintenance of the VAT ledgers
  • To understand the current expenses system and continue to improve the efficiency of the process.
  • To provide excellent customers service to internal and external customers.
  • To support the Finance Manager and Management Accountant on ad hoc duties associated with the role and changing requirements of the business.
Essential Ingredients
  • GCSEs in Maths & English, Grade A - C or equivalent
  • Demonstrates a willingness to learn and develop Finance and Accounting skills.
  • Willing to commit to learning on the job and travel to college to complete AAT apprenticeship
  • Proficient in excel, word and PowerPoint and good general IT skills
  • Provides customer service to a high standard
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work within a team to help deliver objectives
  • Confident telephone manner and good negotiation/communication skills to be able to develop positive working relationships with internal and external customers/departments.
  • Ability to work in an organised manner and manage own time to achieve tight deadlines on a regular basis (weekly and monthly).
