Role Overview
The Finance Assistant will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. This role involves maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, and assisting with month-end and year-end reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong numerical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities
Processing supplier invoices, staff expenses, and credit notes accurately and in a timely manner.
Assisting with payroll preparation and ensuring staff payments are accurate and compliant.
Reconciling bank accounts, petty cash, and credit card statements.
Monitoring accounts receivable and chasing outstanding payments where required.
Supporting month-end processes, including journal postings and reconciliations.
Assisting with budget monitoring and financial reporting.
Maintaining organised financial records in line with company policies and audit requirements.
Responding to finance-related queries from colleagues, suppliers, and clients.
Supporting the Finance Manager with ad hoc tasks and projects.
Skills and Experience
Previous experience in a finance or accounts assistant role (preferably within health or social care, though not essential).
AAT qualification (or working towards) desirable but not essential.
Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and financial reporting.
Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
A proactive and flexible approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
