Job Title: Finance Assistant, Emerging Markets

A little bit about our team:

The Recorded Music (RM) Finance Department at WMG is responsible for handling the worldwide financial operations of the company\xe2\x80\x99s recorded music businesses. The Emerging Markets (EM) team are responsible for growing and dynamic markets as well as recently established WMG affiliates as well as potential target territories that do not currently have a local WMG operations. In these markets, the EM team are looking to establish a tangible presence, capitalising on the local trajectory through marketing of international roster and signing new artists, as well as looking for investment opportunities.

The EM Finance department\xe2\x80\x99s purpose is to provide support to affiliates without local finance capabilities, while assisting and guiding those with finance teams on the ground. This includes internal financial reporting (month end processes, forecasting, budgeting), financial analysis and modelling, generating royalty and financial statements to distribute to our artists, as well as ad hoc reporting to senior management.

An exciting opportunity for an aspiring accountant to utilize their analytical and logical mindset while learning and implementing the fundamentals of financial and management accounting at one of the world\xe2\x80\x99s leading music companies.

The Finance Assistant will form part of the central EM finance team, initially reporting into the Finance Director (UK) while working closely with a Senior Finance Manager (UK) and Assistant Finance Manager (TK). The primary responsibilities for this position include operational financial support (AP/AR), completion of month end accounting and managing royalty statements for Eastern Mediterranean and WM MENA entities, while providing ad-hoc support to the region on an ad-hoc basis.

This position will focus primarily on ensuring fluid financial operations, providing comprehensive financial experience with front to back insight into the operations of various international companies. Responsibilities listed below will be carried out for multiple entities.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

• Perform month end accounting processes, including the preparation and uploading of journals (revenue, bank transactions, accruals etc.).
• Completion of monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliation.
• Maintain a strong control environment and uphold segregation of duties.

Financial Operations

• Oversight of Accounts Receivable and Payable functions for relevant entities, working with local teams to liaise with local vendors and suppliers.

• Accounts Receivable

• Generating invoices and corresponding statements to send to customers, chasing debts where necessary.
• Accounts Payable

• Process and pay invoices for expenses and statement obligations.

Artist and Royalty Accounting

• Liaising with UK royalties, learning their systems and being a \xe2\x80\x9croyalties point of contact\xe2\x80\x9d for the EM Region
• Working with local finance to ensure accurate artist accounts are maintained while assisting with generating artist royalty statements.

Support

• Provide financial and operational support to the Emerging Markets team, providing assistance to other members who may have financial queries.
• Liaise with Royalties, IT and Legal departments to ensure financial information is timely and accurate.
• Maintain relationships with external customers and vendors.
• Assist with Artist and Project modelling.

Ad Hoc Analysis

• Ad Hoc Financial reporting and analysis: typical exercises can include performance analysis related to artists, tracks, regions or markets.

About you:

• At least a 2:1 Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree. Numerical/STEM degree preferred.
• Intention to complete an accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA).
• 1-2 year financial/management accounting experience.
• Highly motivated, independent and collaborative task finisher with a excellent work ethic.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work through problems logically in a fast-paced environment, within time constraints and deadlines.
• Capacity to work on projects concurrently and prioritise effectively.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of management and staff from around the world.
• Highly proficient in all Microsoft Office Applications, predominantly Excel, as well as systems navigation.
