Main Function of the Role
The main function of the Finance Assistant role is to provide support to the finance department. Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, this involves ensuring the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions and records, thereby contributing significantly to the efficient operation of the wider business.
What You'll Be Doing (Key Responsibilities)
We need someone to keep our accounts running as smoothly as a power shower. You will be responsible for a range of core financial and accounting duties, including:

• Executing bank reconciliations accurately and promptly, ensuring every penny is in the right place.
• Managing the processing of customer refunds and ensuring compliance with established company policy.
• Performing sales ledger reconciliations to keep our accounts receivable sparkling clean.
• Assisting the wider finance team in the preparation for the vital month-end close process.
• Preparing and posting essential journal entries as directed by the Management Accountant or Group Financial Controller.
• Supporting the Management Accountant and wider team with ad-hoc financial and administrative tasks as required.

The Working Pattern (Hours & Flexibility)
We offer a great balance between flexibility and team collaboration:

• Hours of Work: The role is 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day).
• Start Time: We offer flexible start times between 7:30 AM and 9:30 AM.
• Office Presence: On-Site, remaining until 17:00 (5:00 PM) 2-3 days per week. This ensures our team is available to promptly handle queries from our Customer Services and Trade departments.

• Proven experience working within a busy finance department.
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles.
• Demonstrable experience with bank and ledger reconciliations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Experience preparing and posting journals is highly desirable.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to a high level of accuracy--we don't miss a grout!
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities without getting in a lather?
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and effectively as part of a team.
