The Finance Assistant will be responsible for undertaking routine accounting activities for designated operations within the Sahara Care Group, including managing invoices and purchase orders, cash flow reporting, running month end reports and collaborating on preparation of the end of year accounts. The role is suited to someone who can work independently, is adaptable, can prioritize work and can operate proactively in a team.
Main Responsibilities:
Responsible for the bookkeeping of the company, entering all financial transactions on to the Sage system in a timely manner and with accuracy, reconciling the bank and other balance sheet control accounts, etc.
Managing month-end reporting, reconciliations, and preparation of reports for senior management.
Analyse financial information to identify discrepancies, investigating and resolving any differences identified on bank reconciliation.
To record purchase invoices, obtain approval for payments and ensure invoices are settled within payment terms.
Sales ledger responsibilities including the billing process and collections.
Research and resolve discrepancies in a timely fashion, liaising with the relevant departments in the Company or third-party providers, clients and suppliers where required.
Assist the team with collection and processing of data for ad-hoc projects, likely during key times, such as audits, budgeting etc.
Updating and filing financial workings and other ad hoc tasks as required by the department, particularly at month and year-ends.
Skills and Qualifications:
2-3 years of relevant, hands-on accounting experience and good understanding of the workings of Finance departments.
AAT qualified or training for ACCA - Desirable
Proficient using SAGE50 accounting software
Effective and efficient IT skills, with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently on assigned duties but also as part of a team, interacting with all teams across the company, Financial and Operational.
Demonstrates an ability to manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines
