About The Role
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-driven
Finance Assistant
to support the day-to-day financial operations of The Derby London City. You will take ownership of the Purchase Ledger, assist with daily revenue checks, and ensure our financial systems are accurate and compliant from the very beginning. Working closely with the Cluster Financial Controller, you will help establish strong financial processes that set the hotel up for success.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the Purchase Ledger for the hotel, including invoice processing, statement reconciliation, and payment runs.
Support daily revenue audits, monitoring allowances, refunds, discrepancies and ensuring alignment with internal controls.
Complete daily reconciliations, including cash, credit card and petty cash.
Assist with month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, and PL support.
Maintain accurate financial records and prepare documentation for external and internal audits.
Collaborate with other departments to resolve financial queries and ensure correct coding and compliance.
Uphold financial, legal and company standards relating to compliance, accuracy, and health safety.
Key Skills
Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
Confident with numbers and comfortable working with financial data.
Good communication skills with the ability to work cross-departmentally.
Technically minded with the ability to learn and navigate systems quickly.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (intermediate level or above).
Ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
About You
You have previous experience in hotel finance or a similar accounting role.
You enjoy working with data, problem-solving, and supporting smooth financial operations.
You are proactive, reliable, and committed to maintaining confidentiality at all times.
You thrive in a structured environment and take pride in accuracy and compliance.
Hospitality or branded hotel experience is an advantage, but not essential.
You are excited to be part of a pre-opening team and contribute to building processes from the ground up.
