We are seeking an experienced and super-efficient Finance Assistant to join our Finance Department. The role will be based at our Swanage office on a full time basis.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of three year's recent accounts experience, ideally gained within a busy legal practice, although this is not essential as training can be provided. Candidates should be fully computer literate with good Excel skills and will be ILFM or AAT qualified (or similar), or working towards one of these qualifications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with previous experience of working to strict deadlines is essential. Suitable candidates must also be proactive with a meticulous eye for detail and be able to communicate effectively with their immediate colleagues.
Responsibilities will include:
Accessing the firm's bank accounts online, checking for new transactions and completing paperwork as required
Drawing cheques and sending payments online
Dealing with Overseas Currency Transactions
Daily posting of all financial transactions to include bank receipts, cheques, CHAPS, faster payments, purchase ledger payments and transfers using the SOS Practice Management accounting system
Checking, processing and ensuring timely payments relating to Conveyancing (Completion Statements through to payments)
Checking and paying counsel fees and other experts as appropriate when bills are paid
Checking authorisation, coding, and posting supplier invoices
Reconciliation of monthly credit card statements
Month end reconciliations and assisting the Finance Manager with month end tasks
Daily bank reconciliations
Accurate and timely recording of all banking and disbursement transactions
Reviewing and processing of expense claims
Interest calculations on client money
Reconciling bank, petty cash and general ledgers
