Job Description

Job title: Finance Assistant

Hours of work: 15-21 hours per week (0.4-0.6 FTE)

Reporting to: Finance Officer, SMASH Youth Project.

Salary: 10,337-15,505 (25,843 FTE) 12month Fixed Term

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to join our team. Initially on a 12M fixed-term basis but with a view to becoming a permanent position. This a new position due to the expansion of the Charity over the past 3 years. Our initial thoughts are that approximately 2-3 days hours are required, with flexible working which can be fitted around the school day. Although a hybrid position with WFH, for the first few months there would need to be consistent overlap 'in office' with the Finance Officer (to learn the role) during their existing working days of Mon/Tue/Thu.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with accounts/finance/bookkeeping experience who is looking to contribute to a dynamic organisation that supports children and young people in Swindon and Wiltshire.

SMASH exists to empower young people to be their best self by increasing their confidence, improving relationships and increasing engagement in healthy and positive activities. We have been doing this for over 20 years, are expanding quickly and would love you to join us on the adventure.

The post holder will be managed by Caroline, our Finance Officer, and must be accurate with strong attention to detail, methodical and able to manage information confidentially. They must also be able to adapt to changing operational requirements from colleagues and the demands of the charity; this is a great opportunity to join a values-driven organisation. We will provide you with opportunities for professional growth and the unwavering support of an enthusiastic team.

You are spirited, trust-worthy, great at problem-solving, meticulous when working with numbers, open to learning new skills and doing things differently; it is essential that you can work at pace and be able to adapt to emerging needs. You ask great questions - challenging why things are done in a certain way or seeking support when you need it. You are comfortable working in a fast moving, values-driven organisation with an innovative spirit, which means that you will not always have all the information or answers when starting out.

If you are the person we are looking for, you are willing to learn new skills and are someone who enjoys sorting things out and making things happen. You feel comfortable taking on responsibility and will play a key role in ensuring our charity runs smoothly.

For our part, we will be a charity that you love being part of, offering you all the support and encouragement you need to not just do the job well, but flourish as a person. How we care for our team really matters to us, and this will reflect in how this job looks and how we look after you.

We are deliberately advertising this post beyond our own network because we hope we will find applicants with a diverse range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. We value diversity in all forms, and we believe that increased diversity will only make us better.
