The Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented
Finance Assistant
to provide temporary cover within our busy Finance Department. Reporting to the Bursar, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of the school's financial operations.
This is a varied role, with a strong focus on purchase and sales ledger management, credit control, and general financial administration.
Key responsibilities include:
Processing purchase and sales ledger transactions, including credit control
Setting up new customers and suppliers on accounting systems
Generating invoices, entering payments, and issuing statements
Posting customer payments and reviewing debtor reports
Preparing supplier payment runs and reconciling supplier statements
Managing departmental inbox and filing systems
Bank reconciliations and ad hoc payments
Supporting purchase order processing and internal approvals
Providing administrative support to the Finance Team and Governors
General office cover during holidays and absence
Maintaining accurate Sage 50 and Excel records
Payroll processing
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
Full/part AAT qualified or qualified by experience
Experienced in sales ledger, purchase ledger, and credit control
Confident using
Sage 50
and Excel (Google Suite experience desirable)
Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
Able to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks
A strong communicator with a positive, enthusiastic attitude
