About the role:



The finance assistant is part of the Finance and Resources function and reports to the Head of Finance. The role has responsibility for ensuring all accounts receivable and payable transactions are processed, recorded and completed. This is a key role for the Finance function to ensure organisational decision making is robust.

Purpose of the role:



Supporting the Head of Finance to ensure the organisation's finances are accurate, compliant and up to date with responsibility for processing financial transactions. This includes maintaining financial records, preparing reports, ensuring the integrity of the finance system and managing customer accounts. The role also has responsibility for a broad range of financial administrative tasks and works collaboratively with a range of stakeholders providing financial support, advice and solutions.

Specific Responsibilities



1.

Financial

- Process financial transactions for RDA and its two trading subsidiaries:

a) Accounts payable - Process purchase invoices and expense claims, making payments in a timely manner in accordance with agreed payment terms.

b) Accounts receivable - Raise sales invoices, report on outstanding debt and provide a debt management process

c) Purchase orders - Ensure that purchase orders are used by the organisation, goods receipted, and balances periodically reviewed for accuracy .

d) Review financial processes to ensure they remain efficient and effective

e) Be the key point of contact for the organisation's banking relationship ensuring the authorisation structure is fit for purpose and up to date.

f) Undertake reconciliations where required, for example credit card payments.

g) Process petty cash transactions

h) Assist with the organisations audit processes

i) Provide support as required for month end and annual budget setting processes.

j) Provide other ad hoc finance tasks as required

2.

Administrative

- General admin support within the Finance and wider office team:

a) Assist with raising and debt management of annual Membership and Insurance and other relevant charging processes.

b) Assist with the Grants to Groups process.

c) Banking of cheques and cash, including completion of relevant documentation.

d) Support the Compliance Officer with general office management, including monitoring and purchase of office supplies.

e) Ensure that the filing system for all transactions is compliant and efficient.

f) Provision of purchase order training to the organisation.

General



a) To undertake other such duties as the line manager shall from time to time determine.

b) To be flexible in working from other offices in the UK as required for the effective delivery of the role.

c) To demonstrate the values and cultural aspirations of RDA in all work that is undertaken

d) To ensure due consideration is always given to our charitable aims and objectives and that this is demonstrated in all activities

e) Attendance at industry events, conferences, and seminars to stay informed on legislative changes.

f) Attendance and support for key events; provision of support for event preparation as required.

g) Working with others in the team to be part of wider projects, events, activities and supporting groups, volunteers and participants

Person specification



Essential Criteria



GCSE Maths with high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
Demonstrable experience of working to deadlines.

Knowledge of Sage 50 as a minimum.

Experience of working in a finance environment undertaking tasks associated with this role.

Organised and methodical, with ability to prioritise tasks. Knowledge and experience of MS Office products, including Excel.
Collaborative approach.

Great customer service and relationship building skills. Adaptable, with an ability to show initiative.
Experience of working with confidential information and data.

Desirable Criteria



A willingness to study for AAT qualification if required.
Knowledge or experience of charity accounts.

Knowledge or experience, of the disability or voluntary sector.

Knowledge, or experience, of equestrian sport or activity.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 25,000.00 per year
