About the job
We're looking for a finance assistant to be part of our Accounts Receivable team at Business Waste in central York. You'll be generating and sending out invoices to our clients, creating statements for customers with an outstanding balance, dealing with telephone and email queries, and more.
Ideally, you'll have some previous experience in an accounts department, but this isn't necessary. Good customer service and an ability to work under pressure in a busy environment is essential. This position is available for an immediate start in our central York office for the suitable candidate.
Business Waste Ltd is a waste management broker in York that provides a national service. We're dedicated to supporting our clients with waste collection, legal advice, and reducing their environmental waste impact at the lowest possible price.
Key roles
Operating Microsoft Office applications effectively (including Outlook and Excel)
Generating and sending out invoices to clients
Reconciling and posting bank receipts to Sage 200
Generating statements for customers with an outstanding balance
Creating customer accounts and sending them pro forma invoices, so they can process payment
Matching customer payment details in Sage 200, with details shown on their signed agreement
Dealing with account queries via email or telephone, including full account reconciliations
Chasing debtors for payment of outstanding invoices over the phone
Dealing with larger clients, ensuring they have received and processed all outstanding invoices, which enables them to make payment
Skills Required
GCSE grade C (or 4) or above in maths and English
One year's experience in accounting (preferred)
Strong keyboard skills
Previous experience in an accounts environment preferred (but not essential)
Good verbal, written, numerical, and customer service skills
Ability to cope under pressure in a busy environment
Reliable, good timekeeper, keen, well-presented and willing to learn new skills
Excellent telephone manner and willing to go the extra mile
