We are seeking a Finance Assistant (with a view to this role progressing to Assistant Accountant) to join a finance team. In this role, you will have responsibility for the payroll function, ensure accurate financial reporting, and contribute to the preparation of management accounts. Responsibilities
  • Process monthly payroll using software, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Handle HMRC submissions (RTI, EPS) and manage auto-enrollment letters for new joiners
  • Reconcile payroll accounts, prepare journals, and liaise with HR on salary changes.
  • Address staff queries regarding tax, pensions, and bonus calculations
  • Assist in the preparation of management accounts, including prepayments, accruals
  • Reconcile audit trails to trial balances and manage intercompany account settlements
  • Train and supervise apprentices on daily finance tasks, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to the migration of new back-office systems
  • Assist with ad hoc financial reporting and project work as required
Qualifications
  • AAT Level 4 qualification would be an advantage but not essential
  • Experience within an accounts role
  • Payroll experience would be preferred but would consider to train
  • Proficiency in SAGE 200, IRIS and payroll systems is an advantage.
  • High level of numeracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
