Finance Business Partner

Clayton le Moors, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

About the Business

Hawthorn One is proud to be partnering with a long-established, family-owned UK manufacturer with a truly global footprint. Known for its unwavering commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability, this business continues to invest heavily in technology, design, and most importantly, its people.

With advanced manufacturing facilities, inspiring showrooms, and operations spanning multiple continents, the company offers both stability and the agility of a values-driven culture. Here, teams are empowered, ideas are welcomed, and careers are actively developed.

About the Role

This newly created Finance Business Partner role is a pivotal position within the finance team and a key partner to operations. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, with a dotted line to the recently appointed and forward-thinking Operations Director, you'll be embedded within the largest and most complex manufacturing site (approximately 60M turnover and the highest SKU complexity). Acting as a commercial link between production, supply chain, and sales, this is a hands-on, high-impact role offering broad exposure and exciting growth potential.

Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of product costing, WIP, and stock reporting across the site, ensuring processes are accurate, efficient, and aligned with operational activity.

Demonstrate commercial awareness by tracking a pipeline of strategic projects, supporting capital requests, calculating ROI, and building compelling business cases that inform decision-making.

Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, and commercial teams to build a deep understanding of P&L drivers across multiple UK and international entities.

Deliver financial insight through data analysis and commentary, supporting senior leaders in shaping business strategy and improving margins.

Partner with operational teams on the shop floor to identify and reduce waste, improve cost control, and embed financial accountability across production.

Review and validate coding structures, cleanse reporting data, and ensure a solid baseline for accurate reporting and future automation or system development.

Contribute to system improvement or implementation initiatives by bringing a solution-focused, analytical approach to technology and process change.

Support a continuous improvement culture by identifying inefficiencies and challenging the status quo with data-backed recommendations.

Benefit from mentorship and senior leadership exposure, with strong support from the Finance Director and Operations Director to help accelerate your development and expand your remit across multiple sites over time.

Candidate Requirements

Proven experience within a manufacturing or production environment, with confidence in partnering closely with operational teams.

Strong technical understanding of product costing, stock control, WIP, and operational finance fundamentals.

A naturally analytical mindset, with the curiosity to explore problems and the confidence to challenge assumptions.

Comfortable working autonomously and shaping a new role, with the resilience to drive change and the initiative to make things happen.

Advanced Excel skills and experience working with ERP systems. Exposure to system upgrades or implementations would be a distinct advantage.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to turn complex data into clear insight for stakeholders at all levels.

Qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience. Study support will be offered if required.

This is a high-impact, visible finance role in a respected, fast-paced manufacturing business with a strong pipeline of strategic projects.

There's a clear route for progression, once success is demonstrated at the lead site, there is scope to expand the model across other operations and take a more senior role.

You'll join a business that combines global scale with a values-driven, supportive culture where people are encouraged to grow and take ownership.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who is looking to progress and gain broad commercial exposure. Whether you have some relevant experience and are ready to grow, or you already bring the full skill set, this role offers meaningful development, variety, and challenge in equal measure

The company offers a competitive salary and an advanced benefits package including enhanced pension and holiday entitlement, a health and wellbeing programme, free on-site parking, additional leave, regular company events, and an on-site canteen.

Ready to make an impact in a commercial finance role where your insight will shape operations and drive performance? We'd love to hear from you.
