Action for Children

Finance Business Partner - Wales and Northern Ireland Childrens Services.

Salary: c\xc2\xa355,000 per annum.

Location: Remote working with occasional travel to Watford Head Office, National Offices, and Local Services.

Contract: Permanent, 35 hours per week.

A bit about the role

Reporting to the Senior Finance Business Partner, your remit is to provide and manage a professional financial service in support of national teams in the Children\'s Services directorate, with primarily responsibility for Wales and Northern Ireland and offering support across other areas of the directorate as required.

This is delivered through leading a high calibre finance team to impact on strategic and commercial decision making, and influence and affect outcomes to enable each nation to effectively deliver services and generate bottom line contribution growth consistently, in agreed timescales and with due financial probity.

How you\'ll help to create brighter futures

  • Lead on the production of accurate, timely financial information for Wales and Northern Ireland nations of the Children\'s Services directorate, and review and report on the same in accordance with approved budget and Business Plan requirements.
  • Lead on all aspects of delivering Children\'s Services Wales and Northern Ireland directorate budgeting, forecasting and longer-term financial modelling.
  • Lead in scrutinising, challenging, and guiding budget holders and providing direction and understanding to recipients to enhance their financial acumen and utilisation of the data.
  • Provide insightful reports into contract performance to Children\'s Services Wales and Northern Ireland Senior Leadership Team.
  • Work cross functionally and in partnership with local operational management with financial negotiations (including attending commissioner meetings) with commissioners, as needed, and to ensure all financial and commercial contract outcomes are met, whilst looking to grow Action for Children\'s bottom line.
  • Work closely with National and Operational Directors to ensure contract returns are maximised and all opportunities to grow the charities bottom line are taken.
Let\'s talk about you
  • Qualified accountant with experience of working in an organisation that provides delivery contracts to its customers.
  • Will have worked at senior level and partnered with senior stakeholders whilst experience in managing and developing a team.
  • Working knowledge of local authority practices is desirable.
  • Good IT skill sets including Excel and Oracle EPM Business intelligence systems or equivalent.
  • A \'can do\' attitude and be willing to embrace change with transferable skillsets to help in other areas of finance.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to be able to support work across the wider Children\'s Services directorate and Finance function as required.
