Job Description

The Finance Controller will oversee all aspects of financial management, including regulatory compliance, budgeting, and reporting, within the financial services sector. This permanent role is based in East Cheshire and requires a highly organised individual with strong accounting expertise.

  • Prepare timely and accurate consolidated financial reporting for the group and all associated entities including group consolidated management accounts (P&L, balance sheet and cash flow), as well as the production of externally required reporting packs.
  • Day-to-day management of 12 legal entities, with the support of 1 management accountant and 1 assistant management accountant.
  • Analysis and commentary on any financial matters
  • Playing a key part in the production of year end accounts, preparation for audit, and the smooth running of the audit process with external auditors.
  • Responsibility, with the support of the team, in the management and maintenance of ledgers across all group companies.
  • Completing and compiling group-wide VAT returns and assisting in other HMRC matters.
  • Assisting the Group Financial Controller with improvements of financial processes, development of the junior team and cashflow management.
  • Direct internal audits, including reviewing accounting and administrative controls.
  • Establish system controls for new financial systems and develop procedures to improve existing systems.
  • Liaise with external auditors, HMRC and bankers and assist with the day-to-day management.
  • Review financial statements with management personnel and plan an active part in the financial management of the group

A successful Finance Controller should have:
  • A recognised qualification in accounting or finance (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Relevant experience within a multi-company SME.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage their workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft packages.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
