JOB OVERVIEW - WANT TO EARN WHILE YOU LEARN?
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Degree Apprentice to join our dynamic finance team. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in financial operations while pursuing a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship in Finance. Your time will be split between practical work experience (80%) and academic study (20%). There may also be the opportunity to study for a Masters in Finance based on individual performance and business needs.
WHAT WILL YOUR DAY LOOK LIKE?
Finance Operations:
Assist in day-to-day finance functions including accounts payable, receivable, and reconciliations.
Budget Monitoring:
Help track budgets, analyse variances and provide reports to support financial planning.
P&L Support:
Contribute to the preparation and analysis of Profit & Loss statements, helping to track income and expenditure against budgets.
Data Analysis & Reporting:
Prepare financial data for contributing to month-end activities and support strategic decision-making.
Invoice & Expense Processing:
Help process staff and supplier invoices, expense claims and payments.
System Proficiency Development:
Build technical skills using accounting tools, Sage and Xero to automate tasks and enhance financial reporting and analysis.
Project Work:
Participate in ad hoc finance-related projects to support continuous improvement and learning.
Study & Development:
Balance work responsibilities with university study commitments, applying academic learning to real-world financial challenges.
WHAT BACKGROUND DO I NEED TO HAVE?
Minimum of Grade C/4 in GCSE Mathematics and English.
A minimum of CCC, A-Level or working towards AAT qualification is desirable.
Eligibility to undertake a Degree Apprenticeship in Finance.
SKILLS & PERSONAL QUALITIES:
Strong numeracy and analytical skills
- comfortable working with numbers and data.
Good attention to detail
- accuracy matters when dealing with financial information.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
- familiarity with spreadsheets is a huge plus.
Strong organisational skills
- able to manage tasks and meet deadlines.
Clear communication skills
- both written and verbal, especially when working with different teams.
Discretion and professionalism
- capable of handling confidential financial information responsibly.
Eagerness to learn
- especially about finance systems, tools, and regulations.
Team player mindset
- willing to collaborate and contribute to group goals.
