We are a hyper-growth Tech startup on a mission to revolutionise student rental. We're now looking for
Finance Director
to help us on the next stage of our journey. We were formed after our co-founders - Harry and Ben - experienced the pain-points of renting a house while at university, and knew that there had to be a better way. In 2023 we were recognised by Tech Climbers as a rapidly scaling tech company, and we're currently fundraising to fuel our growth even further.
We're now into our fourth year of trading, up and running in eight UK cities and launched in the US twelve months ago, with huge growth ambitions for 2026.
The role:
We're looking for a seasoned
Finance Director
to take ownership of our financial operations as we scale. This is a hands-on role that combines technical capability with strategic oversight. You'll be responsible for reporting, budgeting, forecasting, compliance and cash flow management, making sure our financial foundations are solid as Housr expands globally.
What we're looking for:
You've led the finance function within a growing SaaS company, tech startup or SME, and know what good looks like at scale.
You're a chartered licensed accountant (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent).
Commercial experience of navigating the challenges of inter-company trading and US GAAP
You're not just great with numbers - you communicate clearly, work well with others, and are open to giving and receiving feedback.
You combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery across reporting, forecasting, and compliance.
What you'll be responsible for
Financial modelling:
Build and maintain robust models that reflect the business and support decision-making.
Reporting:
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements. Ensure reporting is accurate, timely and useful to both internal stakeholders and investors.
Budgeting and forecasting:
Lead the annual budgeting process and manage ongoing forecasts. Help the business understand performance and plan ahead.
Financial analysis:
Dive into the numbers to identify trends, risks and opportunities. Present clear insights and recommendations.
Cash flow management:
Monitor and forecast cash flow to ensure the business is well-capitalised. Optimise working capital where possible.
Payroll:
Oversee payroll processes and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
Compliance and audit:
Maintain high standards of financial governance. Ensure compliance with accounting standards and manage relationships with external auditors.
Tax:
Oversee tax compliance and planning, including international tax matters and supporting R&D tax credit claims.
EMI & pensions:
Administer EMI share option schemes and own pension scheme management to ensure full compliance and employee clarity.
This role may not be right for you if:
You're looking for a large team to manage - this is a hands-on position.
You prefer well-defined processes and a steady pace.
You're uncomfortable making decisions without having all the information.
You're unable to commit to 4 days p/w in our brand new office in central Manchester (close to Piccadilly and St. Peter's Square)
