Position Overview
We are seeking a
Finance Manager
to oversee our day-to-day finance operations and support the wider business with accurate reporting and compliance. This role is hands-on and operational, with line management responsibilities for junior admin/finance staff. You will play a key part in ensuring our financial processes run smoothly, while maintaining strong internal controls and clear communication with stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Finance Operations
Oversee and participate in processing supplier and subcontractor invoices, delivery notes, payment runs, and bank reconciliations
Manage and process payroll including PAYE and pension submissions
Submit monthly CIS returns and manage subcontractor tax verifications and declarations
Maintain accurate financial records, including ledger maintenance and cash flow tracking
Support preparation of month-end and year-end financial information for external accountants
Team Management
Supervise and support junior finance/admin staff
Allocate and monitor workloads, ensuring deadlines are met
Provide training and guidance to team members as needed
Ensure compliance with internal processes and financial procedures
HR & Compliance
Ensure employee personnel files and HR records are up to date, including onboarding of new starters
Maintain confidentiality and data integrity across HR and finance records
Client & Supply Chain Communication
Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors professionally and efficiently
Upload and manage documentation on client and contractor electronic systems (e.g. document portals)
Respond to queries and resolve issues in a timely, proactive manner

Skills & Experience Required
Experience in a finance/accounts role with some leadership or supervisory responsibility
Understanding of construction industry finance practices, including CIS, PAYE, and payroll
Proficient with financial/accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero) and Microsoft Excel
Excellent organisational and communication skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise effectively, and work to deadlines
Proactive, problem-solving mindset with a "can-do" attitude
Prior experience managing a small team is preferred
