This cluster role contributes to Courtyard's and The Gate's goals and Values by promoting a professional and positive image to all of our guests and contributes to the hotels targets by assisting with all tasks within the Finance function as specified. Duties and Responsibilities:



Strategic Financial Support



Work closely with the all relevant stakeholders to provide strong financial and commercial support to the Hotel General Manager and hotel management team. Ensure a rigorous financial control environment exists within the hotel, aligned with company, brand, and audit requirements. Support and educate Heads of Department (HODs) from a finance perspective, enabling informed decision-making and effective cost control. Assist with preparation of annual budgets, reforecasts, strategic plans, and financial analyses. Implement strong cost control and overhead management strategies to safeguard the hotel's financial future.

Financial Operations & Controls



Oversee day-to-day financial operations, ensuring processes are accurate, compliant, and completed on time. Oversee the logging, batching, and verification of invoices, ensuring correct information is provided to outsourced finance teams (e.g., Equiom). Manage and review supplier payment runs and ensure healthy supplier relationships. Oversee the sales ledger, debtor management process, and collection of outstanding balances, minimising risk of bad debt. Ensure accurate and timely processing of receipts, postings, deposits, reconciliations, and resolution of discrepancies. Support the F&B stocktake process with timely and accurate financial data. Maintain organised financial records, filing, and archiving systems in line with company standards.

Payroll & System Integration



Support the weekly and monthly payroll process with HR, ensuring accurate payroll reporting, analysis, and understanding across departments. Collaborate with external finance teams to ensure data is accurate, reconciled, and audit-ready. Participate in system implementation plans when new systems are introduced, ensuring smooth and timely transition

Reporting & Month-End Duties



Assist the General Manager and outsourced finance team with month-end processes, ensuring all journal entries, reconciliations, and reports are accurate. Ensure profit & loss accounts, balance sheets, and trial balance reconciliations are completed accurately and consistently. Deliver timely financial reporting incorporating benchmarking, KPIs, and variance analysis. Prepare and review monthly financial summaries, expenditure reports, and statistical data as required.

Audit, Governance & Risk Management



Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring accurate, complete, and compliant financial information. Ensure effective property audit programmes are in place and that corrective actions are promptly implemented. Maintain compliance with credit policies, cash handling procedures, and internal controls. Ensure all financial operations comply with legal, brand, and company standards.

Interdepartmental Financial Support



Provide ongoing support to HODs to enhance financial understanding, cost discipline, and revenue optimisation. Assist with departmental queries relating to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting. Attend management and operational meetings to represent the finance function.

Deliver work to the highest level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ensure compliance with brand, company, and accounting standards. Support operational quality by ensuring financial processes enable a seamless guest experience.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS



Ambitious, confident, and professional individual with strong communication, organisational, and analytical skills. Previous accounting experience with a solid understanding of financial reporting and control procedures, ideally within hospitality, F&B, or retail. Qualified or part-qualified accountant preferred (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA). Experience preparing financial analyses, forecasts, and managing P&L performance. Strong attention to detail and a collaborative mindset. Fluent English (spoken and written).
