The role will have 4 direct reports including Finance Assistant's and the Purchase Ledger team but will also have daily input to the wider Finance Team.
Job Purpose
This role will cover the main operating company, but will also include the other companies within the Group.
Key Partner to the Group Financial Controller, supporting all aspects of the Group Strategy, Budget, Cash Flow Management and continuous development of systems and processes
Preparation, development and analysis of financial information to allow the business to make well-informed decisions to ensure future profitability and growth
Establish and maintain financial policies and management of business information systems
This is an integral role to lead on financial processes, statutory governance and compliance
Partner to business stakeholders by providing insightful and quality business information to support cost control in line with budget and to drive reduction in operating costs by function/ department
Ensure all statutory requirements are accurately delivered to required timelines and lead on financial audits
Support, develop and mentor direct reports, in addition to supporting the overall Finance Team
Key Tasks
Key tasks will include, but not be limited to the following:
Monthly input and/ or validation of all transactions in the general ledger in line with the chart of accounts and ensure costs are coded to the correct budgeted account
Completion of the monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Production of the financial/ management reports including profit and loss account, balance sheet, cash flow, variance analysis and commentaries
Production, analysis and reporting of detailed profitability by contract and supplier, reconciled to the reported gross profit
Reconciliation and timely submission of VAT returns
Management of fixed asset register, Capex monitoring and reporting including post-implementation analysis
To assist the Head of Finance, in the production of the annual budget and periodic forecasting
Ongoing review of cash-flow and cash availability
Support production of annual statutory accounts
Manage the direct reports, including day to day communication and motivation by mentoring them to allow for a succession plan
Carry out continuous reviews of working accounting practices and processes to ensure efficient and cost-effective operations
Any other ad-hoc tasks or responsibilities deemed necessary by the Group Financial Controller or Company
Key Skills
Qualified / Part Qualified Accountant, preferably CIMA but ACCA will be considered
Proven experience in a similar role with a, minimum of 3 years' experience working in industry with a demonstrated work history covering all the key tasks required of this role
Proven people management experience with the ability to manage, delegate, motivate and monitor effectively
Proven technical ability, advanced excel skills required and financial modelling would be advantageous
In depth knowledge of financial systems such as SAP or equivalent and supporting management information systems
Commercial acumen and experienced margin/ profitability analysis
Ability to work well under pressure with attention to detail and accuracy
High level of organisation, self-discipline and confident in using initiative and decision making
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels with both financial and non-financial colleagues, management team and business stakeholders
Willing to adopt a flexible, hands on, common sense, "lead from the front", "can do" approach to ensure (and be accountable for) benefits realisation
Strong planning and organisational skills
High-energy, enthusiastic self-starter capable of autonomous working but also a
"team player"
