Are you a commercially minded finance professional, looking to lead and evolve a finance function? At Little Green Rooms, we are a people-first business that builds beautifully crafted, high-quality garden rooms and we're looking for someone who enjoys getting into the financial details but also sees the bigger picture to help us bring the numbers to life. This role requires strong leadership abilities and a deep understanding of financial accounting principles to drive strategic decisions and enhance operational efficiency. We've currently got one of our team on maternity leave, so there's scope to pick up some day-to-day bookkeeping alongside this role in the interim too if of interest.
About the role
You'll be responsible for improving our financial systems and processes, delivering high-quality reporting, and ensuring finance is a true business partner across the organisation.
You'll lead a small but capable finance team (currently 1 Finance Officer) and work across
Little Green Rooms
and our sister company
WorkRoom
. Your remit will span everything from budgeting and forecasting to risk reporting, cashflow management, compliance, and financial controls for both companies.
Team leadership
: Supervise, mentor, and develop a small team--creating a productive, supportive working environment.
Financial control
: Oversee day-to-day finance operations including accounts payable/receivable, payment authorisations, supplier relationships, reconciliations, and cash management.
Reporting & insights
: Prepare accurate and timely monthly and quarterly management accounts, with a focus on segmental reporting and KPIs.
Budgeting & forecasting
: Lead the budgeting process and provide rolling forecasts that inform strategic decision-making.
Cash & risk management
: Deliver regular risk and cash flow reporting. Plan and forecast payments, manage banking relationships, and optimise working capital.
Compliance
: Manage VAT returns, oversee year-end close and liaise with external accountants for corporate tax and statutory filings.
Cost management
: Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency--including oversight of expense management tools like Pleo.
Finance systems
: Oversee and recommend improvements to financial systems and processes to ensure best-in-class performance.
Business partnering
: Work closely with the senior leadership team to provide insight, shape financial strategy, and support wider business goals.
Legislative oversight
: Ensure all finance activities are compliant with relevant legal, tax, and financial reporting standards.
About you
Fully qualified accountant (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
Proven experience in a similar SME finance leadership role
Strong commercial acumen and analytical mindset
Experience mentoring and managing a small finance team
Excellent knowledge of financial principles, controls, and regulations
Confident with finance systems, with strong Excel skills
Hands-on, proactive and comfortable in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Flexible, positive and committed team member, who works to high standards
