Summary
Join Group Finance Support (GFS), a team of c350 individuals in the Finance Division, offering essential support to Finance and the broader business. This Fixed Term Contract position is within the Insurance Financial Control team, overseeing reconciliation, controls, and financial reporting for the Insurance, Pensions, and Investment Division.

Day to day responsibilities
Your role will be varied, and no two days will look quite the same; some of your key priorities in this role include:
Active involvement in financial control activity to support Insurance Entity and Group Reporting:
Managing the team to deliver timely, controlled Month End close activity. Manage and review robust finance controls, settlements and processes that are aligned to the Group's strategic priorities and deliver clear value to users and customers. Provide diligent review of work, not being afraid to challenge or question inputs or outputs.
Delivery at Pace:
Implement processes that break down work for faster, incremental value delivery. Apply a problem-solving mindset with curiosity to explore and challenge existing practices.
Manage Performance of direct reports:
Conduct regular check-ins, update objectives, set development goals and 90-day plans. Provide coaching and support to enhance team performance.
Innovation:
Promote and encourage team to use innovation and technology to improve processes; identifying how time can be reinvested in value add with the ability to embrace change.
Governance and Risk:
Adhering to the governance and policies outlined in the Financial Control Framework. Prompt escalation of risks and issues to ensure no surprises and a timely resolution; taking ownership to mitigate the impacts of risks.
Collaborate & Communicate:
Work closely with Insurance, Pensions & Investment Finance (IP&IF) and other teams to integrate financial processes with broader change initiatives.
What you'll need
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. Finance or Accounting) or a professional accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
Technical skills & experience:
Finance experience:
Established, hands-on, commercial experience in a related finance role, preferably within the insurance finance sector.
Strong technical proficiency:
Technical skills in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Oracle.
Behavioural skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills:
Capable of interpreting complex financial data.
Communication skills:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at building relationships with collaborators at all levels.
Diligence:
Strong attention to detail and a dedication to accuracy in financial reporting.
Pro-activeness & continuous improvement:
Self-motivated, organised and proactive in finding opportunities for improvement and driving change. A willingness to learn new skills is essential in the role.
Integrity:
High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all financial matters.
