Finance Manager

Cirencester/Cheltenham

----------------------------------------------

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance Manager to join our exceptional Business Support Team. This is a varied and fast-paced full-time role (37.5 hours per week over 5 days) working flexibly between the office and from home.

The Role

Building relationships with the EDP Team is crucial in this role. Trust is essential, and it is achieved by offering sound advice, fostering relationships, demonstrating excellent attention to detail, and communicating exceptionally well. Delivering professional outcomes and solutions involves influencing and engaging with Team Members effectively. Your advice should be comprehensive, considering all options to achieve the desired outcomes. You must provide excellent Client Care to external clients and EDP Team Members to ensure they receive a first-class service with any financial related matters.

You will be commercially minded, working for the business as well as the EDP Team, living up to and championing The EDP Way. You will serve as the Line Manager to 3 Finance Assistants, coaching, mentoring, and sharing your knowledge. Additionally, you will facilitate training and development opportunities for the wider Finance Team to enhance their skills and promote career growth.

You will proactively propose new finance initiatives, improvements, and best practices for the finance function to consider, and you will collaborate with the Finance Team to implement these ideas. Additionally, you will manage day-to-day workloads for yourself and the Finance Assistants to ensure these align with the wider finance function, working with the Financial Controller and the Finance & Commercial Director.

You will be positive, proactive, solution focussed and knowledgeable and be committed to maintaining your expertise through internal and external training and research.

A clear understanding of and adherence to financial processes (sales ledger, purchase ledger, expenses etc.) and assistance in preparing the monthly management accounts and year-end audit requirements. You will also have a good knowledge of the statutory requirements in the following areas: annual accounts, VAT, PAYE/NI and accounting principles.

You will adhere to EDP's policies and processes whilst championing EDP's culture (The EDP Way), our mission and values.

Competence in Sage Line 50 (or similar) Microsoft Office, LINK (in house training to be provided), and a desire to strengthen the role of finance within EDP's project management process (quote/instruction/invoicing).

Your Skills

It is essential that you have GCSEs including Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent) and be confident with Microsoft Office packages (especially Excel) and have excellent attention to detail. Additionally, you will be organised, approachable, reliable and able to multitask under high expectations, pressure and workload deadlines.

It would be desirable, but not essential, that you have a recognised accountancy qualification.
