The Role

The Finance Manager role is an integral part of our team, providing comprehensive financial management across the organisation to ensure Netball Scotland is compliant in statutory accounting and reporting requirements with our funding partners, regulators, and Members.

Overall Purpose:



The Finance Manager role is an integral part of our team, providing comprehensive financial management across the organisation to ensure Netball Scotland is compliant in statutory accounting and reporting requirements with our funding partners, regulators, and Members.

Working closely with the Director of Finance & Operations, the Finance Manager will lead on providing financial data to inform budget holders, senior management and the Board with strategic decision making.

The Finance Manager will play a key role in ensuring the efficiency, effectiveness and integrity of our financial systems and processes. The role brings value-added input on finance operations including but not limited to transactional activity, budgeting, monthly analysis and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:



The FM will lead on all bookkeeping activities and monthly accounting cycles:

Financial recording



- Manage and process purchase ledger & sales ledger, including external sales platforms

- Manage tracking of restricted and unrestricted funds

- Maintain accurate records of supplier & customer data

- Liaise with customers, suppliers and banking contacts

- Perform all month-end close activities including bank reconciliations, accruals/prepayments, depreciation and salary journals

Collections/credit control



- Manage the collection of aged debt and aged debt reduction

- Produce reports and commentary on collections efficiency and aged debt tracking

Management accounts & reporting



- Perform monthly departmental budget reconciliations with budget holders

- Prepare monthly management accounts

- Produce monthly budget variance reports

- Produce monthly cash flow forecasts

- Perform financial analysis and provide intelligence and commentary to Senior Management

The FM will lead on all annual statutory accounting and collaborate on governance requirements:

Statutory accounting



- Prepare draft statutory accounts in line with Auditors and OSCR requirements

- Liaise with Auditors

- Assist DoFO in annual audits and accounting submissions

- Assist DoFO in regulatory reporting and compliance requirements

Financial Integrity



- Ensure financial process documents and procedures are maintained up to date at all times, and any changes tracked, documented and approved

- Ensure delegation of authorities are maintained and updated in a timely manner

- Enforce financial policy

Operational Excellence



- Identify and implement process improvement within the finance function

- Lead the implementation of technical enhancements within the financial system

- Coach and support departments on developing stronger financial and cost control acumen and understanding, to strengthen the organisation

- Promote a culture of continuous improvement

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 30,270.00-36,170.00 per year
