Finance Manager

to lead our finance function and support the continued growth and success of the company.

Role Overview



Reporting directly to the Managing Director the Finance Manager will be responsible for all day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring robust financial control, accurate reporting, and effective cash flow management. This is a hands-on standalone role suited to an individual who is both strategic and operational, comfortable working in an SME environment, and able to contribute to the wider management team. Salary offered within a defined range of 40,000 to 45,000 and will be commenurate with experience and suitability.

Key Responsibilities



Financial Management & Reporting

Prepare monthly management accounts and key financial reports for the Managing Director. Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with statutory requirements. The preparation and submission of VAT returns.

Cash Flow & Working Capital

Manage day-to-day cash flow and forecasting. Oversee and report on the companies various banking facilities. Monitor debtor and creditor positions and ensure timely collections and payments.

Supplier & Customer Management

Manage supplier payments, purchase ledger, and supplier relationships. Oversee customer pricing and rebate management.

Payroll & Systems

Manage and process monthly payroll for all staff. Oversee and maintain the Sage accounting system. Ensure financial systems and processes are efficient and well-documented.

Business Support & Strategy

Provide financial insight and analysis to support business decisions. Work closely with the Managing Director and senior management team to develop budgets and forecasts. Support commercial decision-making, pricing reviews, and profitability analysis.

Key Requirements



Proven experience in a similar finance management or senior accounting role, ideally within an SME environment. Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of cash flow management. Proficient in Sage (or similar accounting software). Excellent IT literacy (particularly Excel and general reporting tools). High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Strong communication skills and ability to liaise confidently with senior management, staff, suppliers, and customers. Self-motivated, organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities.

Desirable Qualifications/Experience



Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) - or qualified by experience. Experience managing invoice finance facilities. Previous experience in a business with similar turnover and structure.
