Headquartered in Great Blakenham (near Ipswich), we are expanding rapidly with the new 300,000 sq. ft fulfilment facility based at Port One Logistic Park. Our's is a B2C business, directly servicing consumers with a growing range of premium quality products - from home and garden items, to sport and hardware equipment, from vehicle and DIY projects to business and industry items.
We are currently seeking to recruit a Finance Manager for our Finance department, able to work Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:00am and 5:30pm.
Responsibilities
Cash & Payment Management
~ Oversee the daily management and reconciliation of the company's bank and financial accounts.
~ Ensure accurate and timely payment of all operational expenses, invoices, and liabilities.
Revenue Accounting
~ Oversee the verification of sales data across all channels, ensuring accuracy and completeness of revenue records.
Procurement & Import Finance Control
~ Review and validate purchase invoices and customs documentation.
~ Ensure timely and accurate payment of import duties, taxes, and other related charges.
~ Maintain accurate records of procurement and import costs while liaising with operations and logistics teams.
Tax Compliance & Filing
~ Ensure full compliance with tax regulations, including VAT, Customs Duty, and Import Packaging Levy.
~ Liaise with external tax advisors to support timely filing and submission of required returns.
~ Monitor changes in tax laws and implement updates to maintain compliance.
Payroll Management
~ Oversee monthly payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and timely disbursement.
~ Ensure statutory deductions (e.g., PAYE, National Insurance) are correctly calculated and remitted.
Financial Accounting & Reporting
~ Manage all month-end and year-end accounting processes within strict deadlines.
~ Oversee bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable management, fixed asset schedules, and journal adjustments.
~ Prepare accurate financial statements and management reports.
Audit & Compliance
~ Lead the preparation and coordination of annual financial audits.
~ Ensure accurate documentation and adherence to internal control processes and compliance requirements.
Strategic Support
~ Provide financial insights and analysis to support operational and strategic planning.
~ Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives across the organisation.
Skills
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Expertise in financial planning, reporting, and analysis.
High proficiency with accounting software (preferably Xero) and advanced Excel skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making capabilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver to tight deadlines.
Candidate Requirements
Proven experience as a Finance Manager or similar senior finance role, preferably within a logistics, import/export, or commercial environment.
Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent) required.
In-depth knowledge of UK accounting standards, tax laws, and payroll regulations.
Demonstrated experience in audit preparation and financial compliance.
Strong commercial awareness with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Fluency in Mandarin is desirable but not essential.
