JOB PURPOSE:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day and strategic financial operations of Didsbury Engineering. Reporting into the Head of Finance, this role is pivotal in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency, contributing to the wider business goals. You will manage one direct report and play a key role in monthly reporting, budgeting, and audit preparation.
Provide support across various functions of the business, as part of a small and dynamic team, you'll also take on a range of ad hoc responsibilities across departments, requiring a flexible and adaptable approach to meet the evolving needs of the business.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Day-to-Day Operations
Oversee processing of supplier invoices ensuring timely supplier payments
Cash allocations
Maintain bank reconciliations and monitor accounts mailbox
Manage petty cash and expense reimbursements
Drive credit control, ensuring low aged debt levels
Overhead procurement
Monthly Responsibilities
Administer payroll for 40+ employees and ensure HMRC compliance
Reconcile pension contributions and Barclaycard spend
Prepare and post month-end journals (e.g., prepayments, depreciation)
Draft management accounts and variance analysis
Act as business partner to department heads to ensure spending aligns with budget
Monitor cash flow and complete balance sheet reconciliations
Submit reports to parent company
Quarterly & Annual Duties
Submit VAT returns and corporation tax payments
Lead budget planning and insurance reviews
Coordinate year-end audit and reporting
Manage P60s, P11Ds, and other HMRC requirements
Collaboration & Projects
Liaise with Parent company and external auditors
Engage with tax consultants and group accounting as needed

DESIRABLE SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES:
AAT level 3 or higher/QBE
Payroll experience
Previous experience working in SME
Knowledge of UK tax regulations and audit processes
Previous line management experience
