The Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Manager to join our growing finance team. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for the preparation of key financial reports, managing a small team, and supporting the day-to-day finance function. Key Responsibilities:
Prepare accurate and timely management accounts for the group's two core businesses, reporting directly to the Financial Controller.
Produce and distribute departmental P&L reports to relevant stakeholders during and after month-end close.
Complete and submit VAT returns quarterly, ensuring payments are made on time.
Assist the Financial Controller in the daily management of the finance function, including planning and oversight of key activities.
Initially line manage 2-3 team members, with room to increase this. Providing guidance, support, and performance reviews.
Support audit preparation, including monthly balance sheet reconciliations and lead schedules (e.g., fixed assets, accruals, and prepayments).
Perform bank reconciliations and manage intercompany contra entries.
Collaborate with department heads and line managers to resolve finance-related queries and support financial processes.
Provide support to the payroll process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across finance operations.
Travel to other offices for meetings across London and the South East.
Essential:
Proven experience in a similar finance or management accounting role.
Strong understanding of management accounts, P&L analysis, VAT, and audit preparation.
Experience in managing and developing team members.
Excellent Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems (Sage 50 experience preferable).
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively across departments.
Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement approach.
Desirable:
Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (e.g. ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
Previous experience working in a multi-entity or intercompany environment.
