Finance Manager

London, ENG, GB, United Kingdom

Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a Finance Manager to join our Client who is a specialist lender focused on high-volume, data-driven lending to regulated firms (IVA and legal receivables), using SPVs and structured funding lines. They are building a modern lender driven by large data sets, technology and automation, and with a focus on clean, scalable systems.

They are a small growing team, and are looking for their first dedicated finance hire. They care about:

o? ? Learning and iteration: they are scaling at speed and move quickly to get better every month.

o? ? Technology and automation: they want clean data, automated workflows and scalable processes, not spreadsheets held together by hope.

o? ? High trust, high autonomy: you'll have autonomy to shape the finance function of the business as they scale.

You will be owning the day-to-day finance operations and building the finance function from the ground up. The role is deliberately hands-on: you'll be in the detail of payments, reconciliations and management accounts, while also designing the controls, reporting and processes that let us scale. You'll work directly with the Managing Director and founders, with a clear path of progression for the role to grow into a Financial Controller / Head of Finance position as the business expands

Duties

o? ? Run daily / weekly bank reconciliations across the business and its SPVs.

o? ? Prepare and process drawdowns and cash sweeps in line with agreed models and checks.

o? ? Maintain accurate loan book schedules (deployments, collections, interest, fees) and tie them back to cash.

o? ? Produce monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) for HoldCo and each SPV.

o? ? Reconcile loan books to bank accounts and investor / lender schedules, keeping a clear exceptions log.

o? ? Prepare monthly/quarterly reporting packs for founders, board and investors (KPIs, cohorts, arrears, performance vs plan).

o? ? Support cash flow forecasting and scenario analysis for new facilities and SPVs.

o? ? Design and document finance processes and SOPs for drawdowns, sweeps, reconciliations and approvals.

o? ? Work with external accountants on year-end, tax and statutory filings, ensuring ledgers are clean and audit-ready.

o? ? Help implement and improve systems so data and reporting can scale.

o? ? As the business grows, you will help scope and onboard a junior finance / loan admin so you can move further into oversight and reporting rather than pure processing.

Requirements/ Experience

o? o? ? Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) or equivalent experience.

? Strong management accounting background, ideally in lending, financial services or multi-entity/SPV environments.

o? ? Proven track record producing monthly management accounts and reconciliations with minimal supervision.

o? ? High proficiency in Excel; comfortable working with transaction-level data and building robust schedules.

o? ? Hands-on, organised and detail-driven; you like getting to a clean, reconciled answer.

o? ? Able to explain numbers and issues clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

Nice to Have

o? o? o? ? Experience in private credit, receivables finance or other SME lending models.

? Experience with Xero or similar cloud accounting software and basic BI/reporting tools.

? Exposure to investor/ lender reporting and covenant-style monitoring.

Compensation and benefit

o? ? Base salary: 70,000-80,000, depending on experience.

o? ? Discretionary annual bonus, typically 15-25% of base, linked to company and personal performance.

o? ? Employer pension contribution and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays.

o? ? Hybrid working (London-based, with regular in-office time alongside the founders).

o? ? Funded private club membership.

o? ? Professional development budget for relevant training, qualifications and memberships.
