Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join a reputable local authority organisation in London on a temporary basis. This role focuses on managing financial operations within the Adult Social Care directorate to ensure efficiency and compliance.
The Finance Manager will:

• Service Stabilisation: Act as the interim oversight of to provide financial oversight and accountability for a vulnerable team, eliminating "single points of failure" within the ASC finance function.
• Operational Management: Supervise finance-related posts (including the Direct Payments Officer) and manage end-to-end P2P processes, payment runs, and reconciliations within the Mosaic system.
• Process Transformation: Review, map, and simplify existing financial workflows to remove duplication, creating a "leaner and smarter" operational model.
• Strategic Reporting & Business Case: Identify financial risks for senior management and develop a formal business case for a permanent, sustainable departmental structure.

A successful Finance Manager should have:

• Strong expertise in Accounting & Finance, particularly in a local authority
• Direct exposure to the ASC directorate, including a working knowledge of Deputyship and Direct Payments.
• Comprehensive understanding of social care purchasing, payment processes, and financial system workflows

This position is within a well-established local authority located in London. It is a respected organisation with a strong focus on delivering public services effectively and efficiently.

• An hourly rate of 36 - 39 per hour PAYE, depending on experience.
