Overview


The Finance Manager is a pivotal member of the leadership team, reporting to the CEO and collaborating closely with all departments to ensure the financial health of the business.

The role demands a proactive approach to financial management, robust controls, insightful reporting, and strategic partnership with both internal stakeholders and the wider group finance team. This position is ideal for an individual with experience in dynamic, medium-sized enterprises, particularly those within a larger corporate group.

Main Responsibilities



Lead the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring effective financial controls and compliance with statutory requirements. Prepare timely and accurate monthly management accounts, including profit and loss, balance sheet, and cash flow statements for internal review and submission to the Calleva SLT and Wellma Group. Develop and deliver financial reporting and analysis that provides actionable insights to drive profitability, growth, and operational efficiency. Prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans in collaboration with department heads and group finance. Monitor performance against budgets and forecasts, highlighting variances and working with management to develop corrective actions where necessary. Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring prompt processing of invoices, accurate reconciliations, and robust credit control procedures. Manage cash flow, including daily monitoring, short-term forecasting, and identifying funding requirements to support operational needs and growth strategies. Collaborate with HR Dept. on the processing of payroll and pensions, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and deadlines. Review and submit VAT and other tax returns, ensuring compliance with all statutory obligations. Support the annual external audit process, preparing required schedules and liaising with auditors and group finance as needed. Maintain process workflows, documentation, and procedures for all finance team responsibilities, driving automation and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure integrity and accuracy of financial data within the ERP and finance systems; support system upgrades and integration projects as required by the group. Liaise regularly with group finance to ensure alignment of practices, reporting standards, and strategic objectives. Assist with the preparation of statutory accounts and regulatory filings in partnership with external accountants and group finance. Manage company credit cards, bank accounts, and reconciliation of all financial transactions. Prepare ad hoc financial reports, analysis, and business cases as requested by the CEO, COO or group management team. Drive best practice within the finance team, providing coaching, support, and development opportunities where appropriate.

Other Duties



Undertake any additional tasks as directed by the CEO, COO or group management team, within the reasonable scope of the role. To engage fully with the values of Calleva. To attend monthly one-to-one sessions with line manager. Abide by health and safety guidelines and share responsibility for own safety and that of colleagues. To maintain own CPD, keeping up to date with legal changes and information relevant to the role

Key Skills & Attributes



Recognised accounting qualification(s) (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, AAT or equivalent). Strong technical accounting knowledge and experience in a similar finance role. Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in financial systems (ERP), Excel, and modern reporting tools. Proactive approach to process improvement and change management. Experience working in a group structure and coordinating with group finance functions is an asset. A desire to become part of Calleva's SLT and be an active contributor to company decision making, strategy and policy beyond the finance function
