to join our team as a Part Time Finance Manager. This role is central to ensuring the financial sustainability and governance of our charitable mission.
The successful candidate will safeguard financial integrity, support grant funding processes, and provide strategic insights that enable us to deliver impactful programmes for local entrepreneurs and the wider community.
Main Duties
- Manage the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring transparency and accountability in line with charitable governance standards.
- Prepare and present monthly management accounts, including variance analysis, and year-end financial statements.
- Manage budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with the Chief Executive and senior management.
- Maintain and enhance financial systems, controls, and reporting processes to meet charity compliance requirements.
- Ensure statutory compliance, including VAT returns and Companies House filings, while adhering to charity regulations.
- Liaise with auditors, funders, and external stakeholders to uphold trust and confidence in our financial practices.
Other Duties: CE Support
- Provide financial insights to support strategic decisions that strengthen local enterprise development and community benefit.
- Monitor cash flow and manage financial risk to protect the sustainability of charitable
programs.
- Support grant funding applications and prepare financial reports for funders, ensuring clarity and compliance with funding conditions.
- Contribute to impact measurement by linking financial performance to community
outcomes.
- Undertake other duties that advance the charitable objectives of Ards Business Hub.
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience in financial leadership within a charity, social enterprise, or SME
environment.
- Strong technical accounting skills and experience with management accounts.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
- Understanding of SME finance and community development principles.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable Criteria
- Accountancy qualification e.g., CIMA, AATNI.
- Knowledge of grant funding and reporting requirements.
- Familiarity with the local economic development landscape.
Hours of Work
Part time, 16 hours per week, with flexibility to accommodate organisational needs.
Attendance at Finance, Audit and Risk committee meetings, five times per year, is required. Please note these meetings are held on a Wednesday evening.
