The Role
As Finance Manager, you'll own and drive Gymkit's financial performance, ensuring robust reporting, compliance, and strategic analysis to support the growth of the business. You'll work closely with senior leadership and department heads, and you'll lead/manage parts of the finance function.
Your responsibilities will include:
Producing monthly management accounts, with commentary and analysis to highlight variances, trends, and insights
Preparing annual statutory accounts in collaboration with external accountants
Month-end close: accruals, prepayments, reconciliations (bank, supplier)
Budgeting & forecasting: working with each department to set and monitor budgets, and producing cash flow forecasts
Generating daily/weekly/monthly sales, cost, margin, and performance reports for various departments
Overseeing the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, including supplier reconciliations and paying suppliers on time
Managing credit control: chasing outstanding debts, issuing statements, and maintaining good cash collection hygiene
VAT returns (quarterly) and ensuring compliance with UK tax/regulatory requirements
Payroll oversight: ensuring accurate and timely wages; verifying clocking in/timesheets where applicable
Leading/supervising staff being responsible for training, performance reviews, and overseeing general personnel matters
Contributing to process improvements: identifying inefficiencies, adopting best practices, suggesting and implementing improvements (systems/processes/tools)
Assisting with recruitment, and managing personnel/HR-related issues as they relate to the finance team (leave, personnel filings, etc.)
Person Specification - What We're Looking For
Part- or fully-qualified accountant (AAT / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent); strong candidates who are "qualified by experience" may also be considered
Proven experience producing management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting in a business environment
Strong working knowledge of accounting systems (experience with
Xero
is a plus, but we'll provide training where needed)
Excellent with spreadsheets and data analysis; able to translate numbers into actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders
Solid understanding of UK VAT, payroll, credit control, accruals/prepayments, bank/supplier reconciliations
Leadership skills: ability to manage/mentor staff; good communication & interpersonal skills
Keen attention to detail and a methodical approach
Flexibility: occasionally working beyond "standard hours" during busy periods (month end, end of year)

Salary:
34,000 - 38,000
per annum (depending on experience and qualifications)
