The Finance Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of the business and ensuring robust financial control, effective reporting, and forward-looking financial insight. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role will manage a team of five across finance and debt management, delivering accurate financial information, maintaining regulatory compliance, and supporting strategic decision-making.
The ideal candidate will be highly organised, analytical, and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a high level of autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Month-End
Manage the preparation and posting of all journals.
Oversee full Sage month-end processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Maintain and reconcile the balance sheet each month.
Prepare monthly Profit & Loss reports and commentary.
Produce the monthly Finance Report for senior leadership.
Ensure the company remains solvent through effective financial control and monitoring.
Regulatory & Compliance
Prepare and submit accurate and timely FCA RMAR reporting.
Ensure the business meets all statutory and regulatory financial obligations.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning
Create and maintain the company reforecast, collaborating with department heads where necessary.
Carry out variance analysis (actual vs. forecast) and provide insight to support business decisions.
Produce and develop the Board Pack including performance updates, financial results, and strategic commentary.
Support strategic planning through regular Performance Reporting and KPI analysis.
Cashflow & Operational Finance
Oversee cashflow management, ensuring liquidity and financial stability.
Authorise and check payment runs, ensuring accuracy, approval compliance, and cashflow alignment.
Respond to and deliver ad-hoc reporting requests from the MD and senior leadership.
Management Information (MI) & Bonus Calculations
Prepare and maintain the company MI report, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
Calculate the company bonus in line with agreed metrics and performance outcomes.
Team Leadership & Performance Management
Lead, develop, and motivate a team of five across the finance and debt management functions.
Set clear objectives, conduct regular performance reviews, and ensure continuous training and development.
Promote a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a Finance Manager or similar senior finance role.
Strong technical accounting knowledge and familiarity with financial regulations (FCA experience highly desirable).
Proficiency in Sage accounting software.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and Excel skills.
Experience producing management accounts, forecasts, and board-level reporting.
Strong leadership abilities with experience managing a finance team.
High level of integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive approach.
