The successful candidate will will lead a small Finance Team, as part of the Bursarial Department. The Finance Manager will report to the Bursar and work closely with other functions across School; for example, HR, Administration, Academic Staff and cost centre owners to ensure budgets are set, costs are controlled and forecast are met.
With oversight from the Bursar, the incumbent is responsible for the creation and filing of all accounts, the timely and accurate billing of fees, along with managing credit control, debtors, suppliers and compliance with accounting standards.
There are strict deadlines to be met and therefore applicants must be able to work under pressure, whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy. You must be a good communicator and team member, acting upon your own initiative. This will ensure the Bursarial Department delivers a professional, timely and quality service.
Responsibilities
Acquire working knowledge of all aspects of the Bursary Function
Manage the efficient running of the Finance Section and management of the team
Support and assist the Bursar in all financial matters & financial reporting
Work closely with the Bursar to produce annual budgets
Produce and present monthly management accounts
Prepare accounts to year end before audit and submission to Companies House & Charity Commission
Oversee process of fee invoice generation through iSAM and import into Sage
Oversee and assist with credit control
Ensure necessary deadlines are met for payment to statutory bodies and submission of statutory returns
Preparation & submission of VAT Returns
Oversee and check monthly payroll ensuring salaries are submitted to Bankline in good time
Oversee supplier payment process concluding in final checks before payments to suppliers
Oversee the Early Years Funding process
Person Specification
A formal accountancy qualification or studying towards qualifications are required. Along with excellent financial management skills, attention to detail, a hands on approach and a proven track record in managing financial operations.
Good line management and interpersonal skills are essential. This is an excellent opportunity for an energetic person to continue the development of the finance function at the School. It is essential you are able to work as a team or on your own initiative.
